What is internet
radio?
This is radio delivered via the internet - i.e. via a computer or dedicated
internet radio set - using a dedicated streaming server.
How does it work?
Music and speech is delivered from a computer in real time using dedicated
software, the output is encoded into an appropriate compressed audio format such
as MP3 or AAC and passed to a dedicated streaming server.
The server opens a connection for the listener and is only constrained by
the maximum number of listeners at any one time.
